What cast Rogue One tells us about the film
Another year, another Star Wars movie. After the 2015 box office smash Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney is wasting no time creating the following entry in the space saga, Rogue One: The Star Wars Story. The new film—the first of the studio’s planned spin-off installments—will debut in December 2016. Unlike the Force Awakens, new movie happens before the events of the original Star Wars movie New Hope (1977). It focuses on the fragmentation of a group of rebel fighters mission by stealing the plans for the Death Star. Very little about the film is known aside from the casting and director Gareth Edwards (2014 Godzilla). However we can deduce some things the details based on the casting alone…
Action martial arts
The filmmakers ‘ choice to cast Donnie Yen (Iron Monkey, Ip Man) leads us to speculate that the Rogue One will be served a large dose of martial arts action. For starters, the yen is a famous Hong Kong action star/martial arts/dance. Pour does not seem to fit with the rogue focus on ground combat instead of battles among the stars in the sky. It’s also worth noting that the Rogue One takes place before Luke Skywalker resurrection seriously. This is likely to mean a more assertive and less fanciful style of fighting.
The villain identified?
Denmark’s Mads Mikkelsen has proven himself a compelling, charismatic villain on multiple occasions (Casino Royale, TV’s Hannibal). Sure, it’s dress up, but with that we expect Mikkelsen to play if not evil, certainly darker character in Rogue. The Don’t account shows the past perfect for the Empire server.
Strong female lead
As is the case with The Force Awakens, it seems that the Rogue One exciting feature the female lead, front and center. This is evidenced by the casting of Felicity Jones. She is perhaps best known for her Academy Award-nominated performance and Jane Wilde Hawking in the Stephen Hawking film The Theory of everything (2014). It is doubtful they would choose one rogue follow-up to the project if the script did not similarly feature three-dimensional character, which allows the actress to show her talents.
Buy the comic
Again, it seems that the Rogue One is taking cues from The Force Awakens by adding some levity to the drama and action. This cooperation but stereo Side Star Wars triple that George Lucas wrote and directed. Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Tucker and Dale vs evil) seems to have been cast for this very reason. Tudyk has proven a charismatic actor who can inject a great degree of humor in the film. At the same time is also able to offer an unforgettable experience dramatic performance. He also will be playing a motion capture character, the latter the capacity of hope to prevent his character from straying into Jar Jar Binks territory.
The Voice of wisdom
We strongly believe that Disney Cast Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, The IMDb list is long) either stick to the general and/or the mentor figure of the Rogue One of the heroes. Whittaker is definitely an actor with a large degree of the group. But due to cast members and certain talents, it seems very likely that he will appear as an authority figure of some kind. Comic relief, maybe he doesn’t…
